Physical appearances Flashcards
MICKEY (Age 7)
At age 7, I picture Mickey as quite short in height but being rather skinny; could be down to the fact that Mrs J. can’t afford proper food for the family. I imagine his jawline being diamond shaped as opposed to circular or square, which could be down to health reasons, again. I would say that he is average height for a boy of that age, maybe a little bit shorter as I picture his to be short like Mrs J. His hair would be scruffy and thick, maybe a dark brown colour with a few darker patches (could be dirt). It would also be a bit longer than a normal boy’s hair cut at this time since Mrs J can’t afford a hair cut, or it would be cut quite badly since she has to cut it herself. Leading in from this, his skin would be darker due to unwashed and dried up patches of dirt and mud from when he was playing outside. His eyes would be a dark brown colour, one of the darker shades.
MICKEY (Age 14)
I imagine that when Mickey is 14 years old, he looks quite similar as to when he was 7 years old. He would’ve grown a bit since then though and he would’ve gotten less skinnier. I imagine that he looks as though he can eat more since maybe Mrs J can afford a bit more now than she could before. His hair would look a bit scruffy still, but you would be able to tell the difference from 7 years old to now. He may use a bit of gel in it to secure it in place. His face shape would still be a diamond, though less prominent than it was when he was 7 years old.
MICKEY (Age 18)
When he is 18 years old, I imagine that he has grown quite a bit from when he was 14 years old, and he is much more average weight now, not too skinny. You would be able to tell that he keeps his hair much more well groomed now as since he is working himself, he would be able to afford basic products to keep it looking decent. His hair would be the same colour as it was when he was 7 years old, dark brown, and his eyes may have lightening up slightly from a dark brown to a more softer shade of brown. His build would be more like wide shoulders and a wider jaw line, unlike he was when he was 14 years old.
MICKEY (Age mid 20s)
Now that Mickey is in his 20s, he is a similar height to when he was 18 years old, but since he has been in prison, he may be a bit chubbier since they may be feeding him properly. His medication might have had some effect on him, maybe making his face paler and a bit skinner, his jawline and cheekbones becoming more prominent again. His hair would be scruffy again, since he doesn’t really have much self care anymore since he started taking the pills. His hair would be the same dark brown colour, his eyes too. His build would be wider though; wide shoulders which would be out of proportion with his face. His eyes would be sucked in with dark shadows underneath them, and he might even have a few frown lines on his forehead or around his eyes.
EDDIE (Age 7)
At age 7, I think that Eddie’s appearance would be very contrasting to how Mickey appears to the audience. I would say that Eddie’s height would be very similar to Mickey’s (quite short, just below average height) and he too would be quite thin and lanky, though not as much as Mickey, since Eddie is probably well fed. I picture him having light blonde or dirty blonde hair that is almost always neatly cut and slicked back out of his face neatly, with no loose strands hanging out. His eyes would be a dark brown colour, just a little bit lighter in tone than Mickey’s are. His skin would be one of the slightly more tanned shades, to show that he is healthy and glowing.
EDDIE (Age 14)
At age 14, I don’t think that Eddie would’ve changed much from when he was younger, since he was already reasonably grown up when he was 7 years old. He would’ve grown a little bit since then, though, and be closer to average height now. His build would still be thin, and he would be a like lankier than before since he has grown. His hair would be cut shorter now, and the colour would be borderline dark brown with streaks of lighter blonder tones as well from his childhood. His eyes would still be dark brown, but would be developing small green patches in them, too.
EDDIE (Age 18)
At age 18, Eddie would have grown up quite a bit from when he was 14, since he would’ve gone through puberty. He would be considerably taller now, and his build wouldn’t be as thin and lanky anymore, which would be down to the fact that he’s grown into his body. His hair would’ve grown a lot since he was 14, but he would still keep it neat and tidy and slicked back out of the way so that he looks neat and presentable for when he goes off to university, since I imagine that it would’ve cost a lot of money to get in, so he’d want to look the part. His eyes would’ve lightened in colour, and they would now be a green/hazel colour that go nicely with the lighter shade of brown that his hair is now.
EDDIE (Age mid 20s)
I think that in his mid 20s, Eddie would look really young, still, unlike Mickey who would look quite old. He wouldn’t have changed much since he was 18 but since he hadn’t been around his parents for a few years, he would have personalised himself, such as making his hair quite different and letting it grow out slightly, though he would still slick it back very slightly. There would be a few strands loose and his hair would look very fluffy and soft. His eyes would be the same, and so would his build, though he may look a little more stockier than when he was 18.
LINDA (Age 7)
As a 7 year old, Linda also enjoys playing outside with Mickey and the older kids, so her hair wouldn’t be neat all it, though she would try to do it herself. She would have auburn hair with a few darker streaks, and her hair would almost always be scruffy and knotty, and if she had it up in a ponytail, it would have strands hanging out. She would a very short girl, below average height but she wouldn’t be thin or scrawny like Mickey, she would have a good build for her age and would look well fed even if she may not be. Her eyes would be a dark blue/grey colour.
LINDA (Age 14)
As a 14 year old, Linda would still have the exact same auburn colour, but the darker streaks would not be there anymore (it would all be one colour). She would wear it up in a ponytail or in a small braid, and she would try to make the styles neat but there would still be a few lumps and bits hanging out from the hairband. She would’ve had a sudden growth spurt and she would be suddenly quite lanky, though it wouldn’t be very noticeable and it would look completely normal for her age and height. Her eyes would have lightened in colour to a grey tone.
LINDA (Age 18)
As an 18 year old, Linda would have matured quite a bit since she was younger and her appearance would clearly represent this. She would have stayed the same height as when she was 14 years old, and her build would be the same, too. But, her hair would’ve lightened in colour a bit, and it would now be a light/ strawberry blonde / ginger colour that wasn’t too eye catching or vibrant.She would be a lot better at doing her hair now and it would be a lot neater than before, but she would wear it down more often, maybe with a few clips in it holding it out of her face.
LINDA (Age mid 20s)
I could imagine Linda having shorter hair when she is in her 20s, maybe cut into a long bob with the ends feathered, and it would be a darker shade of red again, but darker than it was when she was 7. I think her height would remain the same as before when she was 18, Her build would be a slim torso and narrow shoulders with a diamond shaped jaw. Her eyes would still be grey but have dark undertones and she would have dark shadows under them as she is stressed out by trying to deal with Mickey’s depression and the child.
SAMMY (Child)
As a child, I could see Sammy being quite tall. He would be quite slim but strong as he is very active most of the time. I imagine him having a slim torso and wide shoulders. His jawline would be diamond shaped, too. His hair would be very scruffy and his skin would be quite dirty as he plays around a lot, maybe even more than Mickey. His eyes would be dark brown and hair colour would be dark brown, borderline black.
SAMMY (Adult)
As an adult, I imagine his height being much taller and build much more muscular. His torso would be slim still and he would have wide shoulders. His hair would be slicked back with gel and it would be black now. His eyes would also have darkened to be dark brown. His jawline would be square shaped.
MRS JOHNSTONE (Act 1)
In act one, I would imagine Mrs Johnstone having long hair which is a light blonde/dirty blonde and she is quite short and skinny for a full grown woman. She would have a couple of wrinkles but not as many as an elderly woman, since she is described as looking over 20 older than she actually is. Her build would be slim with lanky arms and her shoulders would be narrow and a diamond-shaped jawline. Her eyes would be a bit dark around the bottom from the stress of taking care of 7 children. her eye colour would be dark blue or light brown.
