Physical and Chemical Changes Flashcards
1
Q
What happens when wax is heated?
A
The white solid melts to make a colourless liquid and on cooling this becomes solid again. This is a physical
change.
2
Q
What happens when magnesium is heated?
A
It burns with a bright white light and a white powder called magnesium oxide is made and stays this way on cooling. Heating magnesium is a chemical change.
3
Q
What happens when copper is heated?
A
Before heating it is brick red in colour and when heated it turns black and stays black on cooling. This is a chemical reaction.
4
Q
What happens when zinc oxide is heated?
A
Before it is heated, it is white and when heated it turns yellow and after cooling it turns white again. This is a physical change.
