5 models that lead to effective physical activity interventions
- Theory of planned behaviour (intention to complete the behaviour)
- social cognitive theory (concept of self-efficacy)
- transtheoretical model (stages occur when attempting to change behaviour)
- self determination theory ( participation based on personal interests and values)
- health action process approach: collation of important concepts across each theory
what are some strategies that that models suggest
Action planning: Planning where, when and how to execute the behaviour ( Theory of planned behaviour)
Goal setting: Identification of desired goals ( Social Cognitive Theory)
Behavioural monitoring: Keeping track of exercise behaviour ( Social cognitive theory)
Coping planning: effectively manage potentially problematic or challenging situations (health action process approach)
What are the 5 stages of the transtheoretical model

- Contemplation
- Preparation
- Action
- Maintenance
