what are they called and why?
they are called roundworms, as when cross-sectioned, they appear as circular
what are their characteristics?
they are triploblastic, bilateral, parasitic/terrestrial/free living/ aquatic. they also have an organ system organisation, they are psuedocoelomate
what is special about them
they have a complete alimentary canal and also have developed muscular pharynx
where thro body waste is excreted
excretory pore
what is their sex?
they are separated into male and female and are hence dioecious [ often female is longer than male]
fertilisation and their development
their fertilisation is internal , development maybe direct or indirect
what are some examples?
Ascaris [roundworm], wuchereria [filaria worm], anclostomata [ hookworm]
