Q

If plants require sunlight to perform photosynthesis; ¿during the night hours, will plants produce oxygen?

A

An important research by Professor Alison Smith, has recently shown that overnight plants have enough sugars to meet their needs. This means that in addition to making glucose from carbon dioxide, photosynthesis produces starch and stores it temporarily in the leaves during the day, so at night when photosynthesis is not possible, the starch decomposes into elemental sugars with which the plant survives and continues its growth process

Q

We know that plants require water, carbon dioxide and sunlight to perform photosynthesis, ¿what will happen if they dont get higher concentration of any of these elements?

A

Photosynthesis is literally the most important thing to the ecosystem, and in short is the source of all chemical energy in the
ecosystem, because It transforms the carbon dioxide, the nutrients absorbed by the roots and through the solar light you obtain the oxygen and the glucose.

Without any of the three elements, the plant does not survive and so do we because we need oxygen and all living things

Q

what is photosynthesis

A

To talk about photosynthesis we must first go back through history. In 1772 beginning with the English scientist Joseph Priestley who made the discovery of O2 (Oxygen), and who established that the oxygen production came from the plants, and that during periods of gloom the plants made the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2). Then in 1779 the Dutch doctor Jan Ingenhousz discovered that release of O2 by plants was possible only in sunlight, and only by green parts of the plants. In 1804 Nicolas de Saussure verified Jan Ingenhousz´s hypothesis that plants assimilate CO2 from the air while nitrogen and other nutrients are derived from the soil, he realized the importance of H2O in photosynthesis.

Q

what is the process of photosynthesis

A

First we take a container with water, we add a spoon of sodium bicarbonate and cover it, shake it until we do not see a solid particle in the mixture, the sodium bicarbonate we use it mixed with the water to obtain the carbon dioxide as the product of the mixture; Then we will immediately introduce the plant into the container. We cover it and place it in the sunlight, if there is no sunlight, artificial light can be used, that is to say we will place a lamp near the glass container.

Q

Which is observed in the bottle after you put bicarbonate of sodium

A

After a while you will begin to observe that the plant will emit bubbles of oxygen

Q

Then in conclusión

A

In Conclusion, considering the results of the scientific experiment, it can be evidenced and concluded that water, nutrients, carbon dioxide and light are very important inputs to develop the process of photosynthesis in plants.
