Q

Step 1 - Carbon fixation

A
  • CO2 diffuse in through stomata
  • CO2 reacts with RuBP producing an unstable 6C compound which splits into 2 forming 3C GP molecules

Step 2 - reduction of GP

A
  • energy from ATP and NADPH produced during the LDR are used to reduce GP to 2 molecules of a phosphorylated 3C sugar TP
  • 1/6 of TP molecules are used to produce organic molecules e.g. condense to become hexose to produce starch/cellulose
  • 6 ATP becomes 6ADP, 6 NADPH becomes 6 NADP+
