Carbohydrates and glucose

Building of a complex substance from simpler substances

6CO2+6H2O+Sunlight➡C6H12O6(Glucose)+6O2
What is chlorophyll
An energy trap
What so accessory pigments do?
They trap some energy but then must transfer to the chlorophyll
What is the light reaction
The trapping of energy and the splitting of water
Where does the light reaction occur
In the thylakoids
Where does the dark reaction occur?
In the stoma
What is the dark reaction?
It’s the fixing of a carbon in a carbohydrate
What are two other names for the dark reaction?
Independent reaction and the Calvin cycle
Why is it called the dark reaction?
Because it doesn’t require light to work
