Photosynthesis Flashcards
What is Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is the process where plants make the food glucose, from carbon dioxide and water. It uses the energy in sunlight trapped by green pigment chlorophyll which is found in structures called chloroplast
Carbon dioxide enters via
Pores in the leaves called stomata
Water enters the leaves how
In transport tissue in the veins. This water was absorbed by specialised root cells called root hair cells
Oxygen produced by photosynthesis diffuses out the
Stomata, IF IT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR RESPIRATION
How is the sugar produced in photosynthesis stored
it is stored as starch in the vacuole of plant cells.
What is the word equation for photosynthesis
Carbon Dioxide + water -_light——> glucose + oxygen
Chlorophyll is found in
Chloroplasts
What is the symbol equation for photosynthesis
6CO2+6H2O→C6H12O6+6O2
