Reducing Sugar Test
Crush/crumble the food sample
Add blue benedicts solution
Boil/heat in a water bath
A brick red precipitate will form if sugar is present (different colour indicates less sugar)
Starch Test
Add a few drops of yellow/brown iodine solution
A blue/black colour will form if starch present
Protein Test
Dissolve some food in water
Add some blue biuret solution
A lilac purple colour will form if protein is present
