photosynthesis Flashcards
equation for aerobic respiration
C(6)H(12)O(6) + 6O(2) = 6CO(2) + 6H(2)O + energy
equation for photosynthesis
6CO(2) + 6H(2)O + sunlight = C(6)H(12)O(6) + 6O(2)
where does photosynthesis occur
chloroplast
where does cellular respiration occur
mitochondria
why are most plants green
chlorophyll. it is a pigment found in the chloroplast of a plant that used for photosynthesis. it reflects green light and therefore makes most plants appear green.
2 major reactions in the chloroplast
light dependant reaction (in the thylakoids). light independent reaction/ calvin cycle
ATP
is the product of the light dependant reaction in which light is converted into chemical energy AKA ATP
what is ATP used for
atp is converted into glucose
