A word that is used to represent a sound.
Onomatopeia
The repetition of the vowel sound across words within the lines of the poem creating internal rhymes.
Assonance
Making phonetic change for ease of pronunciation, and creating a pleasing impression when spoken or read.
Euphony
a combination of words or phrases that sound harsh, jarring, and generally unpleasant.
Cacophony
A harsh sound made by the friction of breath in a narrow opening, producing a turbulent air flow.
Fricative
A sudden sound made by stopping the airflow using the lips or teeth followed by a sudden release of air.
Plosive
The rise and fall of the voice or volume in speaking.
Intonation
A unit that forms an entire word or parts of words.
Syllable
A word consisting of one syllable.
Monosyllabic
The aspects of spoken communication that do not involve words, including tone, pitch, body language etc.
Paralinguistics
A hissing sound created through the repetition of the āsā sound.
