Phobias involve an excessive fear and anxiety response to an object, place or situation. This fear is disproportionate to the actual threat of the feared stimuli.

Phobias is directed towards a certain object.

A
Phobia is directed towards social situations.

A
A phobia of being outside in general or a public place.

Cognitive characteristics
A
Fixation on the phobic stimulus when they’re faced with it. This serves a survival advantage so that we react quickly to deal with this.
