Define the Ontological argument?
Anselm said that a being that exists in both the mind and reality is greater than one that just exists in the mind. We cannot imagine anything greater than God therefore he must exist in reality.
Define the Teleological argument?
Aquinas said that everything in our world is complex therefore it must have had a designer. It must have been designed by an intelligent being. This intelligent being must be God.
Define the Cosmological argument?
Everything has a first cause, the universe cannot just come from nothing someone must have created it. This first cause of the world is God therefore he exists.
Argument from religious experience?
People claim to experience God directly therefore he must exist if people are experiencing him.
Argument from morality?
We all have a sense of right and wrong, we have a guidance in situations where we need morals. This can be interpreted as Gods voice in the form of our conscience. So he exists.
Define immanent?
God is present in the universe and is involved with life on Earth.
Define transcendent?
God is exists outside of time and space. He is always there but gives us free will.
What is intelligent design?
The belief that God started the evolution process.
Describe each part of the trinity?
The father- he is the creator that cares for us but also punishes us for sin.
The Son- God in the form of Jesus, he made his life a sacrifice in order to redeem humanity from Adam and Eve’s mistake.
The Holy Spirit- this is God at work in the world this is God on earth guiding us in life.
Define a miracle?
An event that is the work of God and defies the laws of nature.
What are the four categories of miracles and give and example of each?
Natural- water into wine
Casting out Demons- the possessed boy
Healing the sick- the man with leprosy
Raising the dead- Lazarus
What is the day of the pentecost?
Jesus promised that following his death they would receive the power of the Holy Spirit to guide them. This was the day that Jesus disciples spoke in foreign tongues allowing them to spread the word.
