How does the creations story link to women’s roles?
Adam was made first and then Eve was made from the rib of Adam. Eve gave in to temptation from the devil. This shows women are weaker.
Describe the traditional Christian family roles?
The men are the breadwinners and provide for the family whereas the woman should care for the children and homemake.
How could you argue against the creation story?
We are all made in the image of God (imago dei) so we all are equal in Gods eyes.
What do liberal christians believe about the role of women?
They believe that women not being equal is a thing of the past, men and women are equal now. The Church of England allow women priests.
Define marriage?
A covenant mad between the couple and God. Marriage should be monogamous meaning that you have only one sexual partner.
What is a civil partnership?
The joining of two people of the same sex. Methodists and Church of England accept this whereas Roman Catholic do not.
Christian views on divorce
Christians do not believe that divorce is right because you make a pledge for the rest of your life in your vows.
It is only acceptable if:
It is the most loving thing to do
Or you have not consumated the marriage
Church beliefs on sex and creation
Christians believe that sex is very important. As pro creation is part of Gods plan. Casual sex is seen as adultery and abortion is not acceptable.
When is abortion acceptable?
If the pregnancy was a result of rape
If the mothers health is at risk
Abortion is seen to be playing God.
