PHEP 13 Flashcards
Why are symbols used in circuit diagrams?
Because they can be easily and quickly drawn and they can convey a great deal of information.
Circuit diagrams are drawings that consist of?
lines
figures
symbols
What is a one-line diagram?
A drawing consisting of one line that shows the route of power between two places.
It does not show the actual number of wires or phases.
What are the three types of circuit diagrams?
one-line
schematic
wiring
What does ASA mean what is the purpose of it?
American Standards Association.
Setting a standard for the meaning of circuit diagram symbols.
What is a major use of the one-line diagram?
To detail the actual operations of the circuit.
What is a schematic diagram?
A circuit diagram that has more detail than a one-line diagram but is made as simple as possible. It does not show any physical location of the symbols that represent the different parts.
Where is schematic diagrams used mostly?
In design work.
A wiring diagram shows?
all wires
where they connect
the routing from place to place
All wiring diagrams are wired as if the wireman was ________.
facing the equipment
