Phenethylamines Flashcards
What is a stimulant?
A stimulant is a class of psychoactive drugs that promote activity in the brain and body such as caffeine
What does a schedule I drug mean?
A schedule I drug is a drug with no accepted medical use that has a high potential for abuse with use potentially leading to a dependence
What does a schedule II drug mean?
A schedule II drug is a drug with some accepted medical use that has a high potential for abuse and with use potentially leading to a dependency
What is methamphetamine?
Methamphetamine is a schedule II stimulant
What schedule is methamphetamine?
Schedule II
Are there legal forms of methamphetamine?
Yes
Is it possible my client could have had a prescription for methamphetamine and this could be legal?
I do not have any knowledge of your clients prescription history however prescription methamphetamine is typically found as a tablet not as a liquid or crystalline material
Could this methamphetamine be from an inhaler?
I do not have knowledge about how this methamphetamine was synthesized
I see your report says “or isomer thereof” what does that mean?
The technique used cannot differentiate isomers which are structural similar compounds. This means that I was able to identify the controlled substance present but not the specific isomer that the controlled substance is.
What does a sampling plan on an item mean? How do you do a sampling plan?
A sampling plan on an item means that a statistical analysis was done on the method to ensure that an accurate representation of the population as a whole without analyzing all of the contents. It is done by following a hypergeometric model to determine the amount needed to be tested and then randomly selecting that amount from the entire population
What does “there is a 95% confidence that at least 90% of the 500 tablets contain methamphetamine “ mean?
This means that based off our statistical model we are able to make a statistical inference that 95% of the time of the 500 tablets at least 90% of them do contain methamphetamine. If less than 90% of the 500 tablets are negative statistically we would have found at least 1 of the negatives 95% of the time
Why did you only analyze 1 tablet out of 100 in this case?
It is our policy to only analyze 1 tablet and if more testing is required and requests then we do so at that point
