What are the stages of development?
- Prenatal and Newborn
- Infancy and Childhood
- Adolescence

What are the stages of prenatal development?
- Germinal stage, until 2 weeks, froming of placenta
- Embryonic stage, 2 weeks to 2 months, organs forming
- Fetal stage, till birth, rapid boday growth
- Newborn, survival reflexes, sucking and stopping reflex, rooting
What did Piaget think about child cognitive development?
According to Piaget, the driving force behind intellectual progression is trying to make sense of one’s experience
What is habituation?
When the familiarity with a stimulus reduces, slows or stops a response
What is dishabituation?
An increase in reponse after the presentation of a new stimulus
What are assimilation and accommodation?
2 concepts expalining how we use schemas:
Assimilation- matching external reality to an existing cognitive structure
Accommodation-when there’s an inconsistency between the learner’s cognitive structure and the thing being learned. The child will reorganize their thoughts.
What are Piaget’s stages of cognitive development?
- Sensimotor stage, birth to 2, experiencing through senses and actions
- Preoperational stage, 2 to 7, intutive reasoning
- Concrete Operation stage, 7 to 11, logical thinking about concrete event
- Formal Operational stage, abract reasoning
