• Signing a prescription drug order for a dangerous drug if: following diagnosis, initial patient assessment, and ordering of drug therapy got a physician AND pharmacist practices in a hospital, hospital-based clinic, or an academic health care institution AND it has bylaws and medical staff policy that permits a physician to delegate to a pharmacist the management of drug therapy

Access is limited to pharmacist and health care personnel

If controls are to be stored and dispensed from the automatic system at another location, DEA registration must be obtained for the remote location in the name of the pharmacy providing the remote pharmacy services
An application to TSBP is required prior to providing these services
A pharmacist may supervise operation electronically and shall control all operations of the system and approve the release of the initial dose
Drugs must be in original manufacturing containers or prepacked
Stocking must be done by pharmacist, tech or tech trainee
Record of all drugs sent and returned must be maintained
Perpetual inventory of all controlled substances is required
