Pharmacology Flashcards
Atropine
Atropine: anticholinergic, increases HR And contractility. Used to treat sx of bradycardia and bronchospasm. CAD
Warfarin/Coumadin
Warfarin/Coumadin: potential adverse effects include skin discoloration and hemorrhaging
Nitroglycerin
Nitroglycerin: VASODILATOR
postural hypotension- dizzy-nausea, weak, increases fall risk, tachy
Theophylline
Theophylline: bronchodilator, reverses airway obstruction. Can cause arrhythmias and seizures if at toxic level. (Cipro interaction can cause this)
Lyrica/Pregabalin
Lyrica/Pregabalin: serious side effects include heart failure!!!
Albuterol
Sympathomimetic medication: albuterol reduces bronchospasm (bronchodilator), side effects include tremor, anxiety, weakness.
Cyclosporine
DMARD for RA
status change of pt must be reported due to possible drug interactions
flexeril
blurry vision, tachy, dry mouth
Diuretics
hyperglycemia hypokalemia hyperuricemia hypercalcemia OR hypo Digoxin toxicity
What else can cause digoxin toxicity?
Ca channel blockers
They can also interact with beta blockers: AV block
Signs of Digoxin toxicity
mechanism
arrythmia, anorexia, vomiting, AMS, blurred vision
increase contractility in CHF pts
Beta blockers decrease…
HR, contractility, BP, myocardial demand
SE: sedation, bronchospasm, ortho hypotn
