Pharmacodynamics (Scully) Flashcards
What is Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics?
What is Pharmodynamics based on?
Drug receptor binding, ligand interaction.
Sufficient number of receptors are bound “occupied” -> Cumulative effect of the receptor. This allows us to “tune” doses, and adjust how much the reacts and processes doses of the same drug.
What are the 4 kinds of receptors discussed? Which three are integral membrane receptors?
What is the drug selectivity?
What is Drug affinity?
What is Kd? And what is it at equilibrium?
How could we change ligand receptor binding? What would this do in regards to drug effect?
What is [Ro] and what is the fractional occupancy of receptors?
100% of receptors must be bound to get 100% of effect
What is Kd equal to in regards to occupancy and affinity?
What is occupancy theory?
100% bound equals 100% effect
What is Dose Response? What is the equation?
What is Graded dose response curve and Quantal dose response curve?
What is efficacy and potency? What would this look like in kinematics terms?
What is a Quantal Dose- Response Curve? What are the 3 effects?
What is a partial agonist and inverse agonist
