What constitutes the practice of pharmacy

Function of the Registration of pharmacist regulations
Governs the application process which includes examination and certificate of good standing
What is the purpose of the PRA?
Ensure accountability of pharmacists to the public through regulating professional conduct, behaviours and services
Composition of the SPC
- 11 members
- 2 ex-officios
- 9 other members: 1 designated as president; 3 years term
SPC meetings
- 5 members to form quorum
- President or temporary designee present
- Meeting minutes should be taken
Refusal to register by SPC
- Registration withdrawn or suspended/cancelled in any country
- Not of good reputation/character
- Lack physical/mental fitness to practise
Temporary registration terms
- Must be and continue to be engaged in teaching, research or postgrad studies
- May be requested to sit for any exams
- Total period not more than 2 years, renewable for not more than 12 months
Surrender of practising certificate
Within 14 days of suspension or cancellation of registration
Foreign graduates not allowed to register as conditional registered pharmacist
- Enrolment into course from Aug 1st, 2020 onwards
- Started an approved course from June 1st, 2018 onwards but does not hold local practising license
- Lack 3 months of practice experience at SPC-approved training center
CPE points needed for renewal of certificate
- 50 points in the 2 years preceding
- At least 30% from patient-care
Qualifying period for CPE
September of the prev year to August of this year
What type of activities are allowed for CPE?
- Grand rounds
- Conferences
- Reading articles
- Presentation or publication of own work
- Graduate studies
Removal of name from register due to failure of renewing certificate
- Failure to renew practising certificates for 5 years continuously
