First schedule of Misuse of Drugs Regulations
CDs in small quantities or formulations which have a low risk of abuse (exempted from sections 5, 6, 7 of the Act, but subjected to regulation 18 of the Regulations)
Second schedule of Misuse of Drugs Regulations
CDs with high abuse potential but therapeutic value
Third schedule of Misuse of Drugs Regulations
CDs with lower abuse potential than S2, with therapeutic value
Fourth schedule of Misuse of Drugs Regulations
CDs with high abuse potential and low therapeutic value
Persons legally permitted to supply CDs
- Applies to S1-3
- Practitioners
- Pharmacists
- Lawfully conducting a retail pharmacy business
- Nurses in charge of a ward, when administering CDs under the instructions by doctor / dentist
- People in charge of laboratory engaged in scientific education / research
Persons legally permitted to administer CDs
- S1 –> any person
- S2-3 –> doctor / dentist or their designated to a patient
CD prescription
(Typewritten)
- Prescriber’s name & address
(Handwritten)
- Name & address of patient
- Dose to be taken
- Dosage form & strength of the preparation
- Total quantities (number + words) to be supplied
- (If not a preparation) quantity
- (if instalment) amount of instalment of the total amount to be dispensed & intervals to be observed
- Dated and signature
- Declaration, if any
CD documentations
- In a boundbook
- In chronological order
- Follows the fifth schedule
- Products of diff strengths and forms to be separated
- Class of the CD to be stated
- Entries to be made latest by the next day
- No cancellation, obliteration & alterations
- In ink or otherwise indelible
- Not to be used for any other purposes
- Separate registers for diff premises
- Records kept for at least 3 years

Only for S2 & 4
