Pharma drug used in radiology Flashcards
Anticholinergic, it blocks the acetylcholine receptor, that inhibit its activity
BUSCOPAN (Hycosine N-Butyl-Bromide)
- Glucagon is a hormone that your pancreas makes to help regulate your blood glucose (sugar) levels.
Glucagon increases your blood sugar level and prevents it from dropping too low, while on the other
hand, Insulin decreases blood sugar levels. - It helps reduce intestinal motility and gastric secretion
GLUCAGEN (Glucagon)
is a type of small peptide drug which enhances gastrointestinal motility by increasing the frequency or strength of contractions, but without disrupting their rhythm.
GASTROKINETIC AGENT
are dopamine antagonists preventing the action of dopamine because Dopamine causes decreased
intestinal motility and gastric secretion
* causes increased intestinal motility and gastric secretion, speeding up the bowel transit of
contrast medium from stomach to small intestine for Barium follow-through examination
MAXOLON (Metoclopramide)
Histamines are mediators of inflammatory response, they can be released when contrast media is administered ion patient and can cause many inflammatory reactions like itching, flushing
ANTIHISTAMINE
blocks histamine receptors, preventing the action of histamine
BENADRYL (Diphenhydramine)
are potent immune-suppressants, steroid stops the immune system and decrease inflammation
STEROIDS
- a corticosteroid hormone
- used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood disorders, severe allergic reactions, certain cancers, eye conditions, skin/kidney/intestinal/lung disease, and immune system disorders
- It decreases your immune system’s response to various diseases to reduce symptoms such as
swelling, pain, and allergic-type reactions
MEDROL (Methyprednisolone)
is a corticosteroid, an anti-inflammatory adrenocortical steroid, it is used to
reduce inflammation (pain, swelling, redness, and heat) in certain glandular disorders, rheumatic disorders, skin diseases, allergic conditions, inflammation of the eyes, stomach or gut disorders, respiratory diseases and blood disorders
SOLU-CORTEF (Hydrocortisone)
Three intravenous fluid
- hypertonic
- isotonic
- hypotonic
Solution: high Sodium concentration (more salt, less water). This solution is used to patients
with hyponatremia (low level of salt in the blood)
HYPERTONIC
This solution is used for stat fluid replenishment like blood loss (hemorrhage, surgery, or burn), dehydration (excessive vomiting and diarrhea), diabetic keto
acidosis (DKA)
ISOTONIC
Solution: low Sodium concentration (less salt, less water). This solution is used to patient
with hypernatremia (high level of salt in the blood)
HYPOTONIC
