how does fidaxomicin work?
inhibits bacterial RNA polymerases (macrolide antibiotic)
how is fidaxomicin administered?
orally, stays in GI tract so doesnt have much systematization
which antibiotic has no cross-resistance with other antimicrobials, including rifamycin?
fidaxomicin
why don’t we use fidaxomicin much?
it’s expensieve, but it also works better in treating pts at high risk of Cdiff recurrence

do fecal transplants work?
yes about 90% of pts reported clinical resolution, and there are no reported adverse events
