What is Value Transference?
Any system that receives money for the purpose of making something
What is a pop method in advertising?
Focuses on the opinion of the public rather than that of the media’s opinion
What is the nature/green method in advertising?
Where advertisers is the environment to their advantage at winning over the public
What is testimonial advertising?
Where the advertisers encourage people to join in and feel included e.g. Nazi propaganda
What is flattery advertising?
Where advertisers use compliments to entice the consumer
What is the scientific method in advertising?
Where advertisers use fancy statistics to make a product/brand appear more mature than others
What is the sex appeal method in advertising?
Where alluring, seductive music is played when usually a couple are seen ‘making love’ in a dark setting
What is a before and after method in advertising?
An advert showing an improvement from one period of time to the next
What is a ‘guilt, fear and worry’ advert type?
Adverts that say things such as ‘if you don’t do this, then … will happen’ etc
What is an emotive/loaded language?
Adverts that pull at the heart strings of it’s audience, usually charity or appeal adverts
What are slogans and jingles in advertising?
Catchy ‘songs’ used to promote a brand in a musical way
What are ‘eye-catcher’ adverts?
Adverts which grab the attention of the audience, standing out from most adverts
What is a ‘paradox’ method?
Where impossible contradiction is created in adverts
What is temptation advertising?
Tempting the audience with a reward if they buy the product
What is the ‘currency method’ in advertising?
The use of images of money within advertising
What is the ‘product name’ advertising method?
Where the main focus isn’t so much on one product, but on the product name e.g Apple don’t focus on one Apple product, but the brand name altogether
What is repetition is advertising?
Where the brand/product name is being repeated over and over, ‘drilled’ into the minds of consumers
What are coining/misspellings in advertising?
Where companies create their own name for a product, or a play on words
What is rhythm, rhyme and alliteration in advertising?
A way in which the advert voice over is worded, so that people will remember the product a lot more than the word just said one time
What are metaphors and hyperboles in advertising?
Where the product is over exaggerated or made out to be something it isn’t, capturing the consumer more
