They argue whether events in history such as the holocaust were caused by the the structure of society rather than by a choice as believed by intentionalists

History is a journey from oppression to a glorious present with democracy and a constitutional monarchy helping to show the progression of humanity
Tosh
History is a coherent discipline which still bears the imprint of nineteenth century origins
Tory interpretation
History is a continuation of established order, tradition and the role of societal institutions helping to uphold society
Marxists
Societies will inevitably rise and fall due the impeding the development of human productive power highlighting class struggles
Interactionists
Society is a product of human interactions and the meanings placed on them at a smaller level
Gender based historians
Historical perspectives on events can be different based on gender due to gender roles and ideas leading to re - interpretation but this can be seen as changing due to broader perspectives
Butterfield
Historians should strive for an unbiased view on the past based on personal terms rather than contemporary values such as the broad systems of government and economics. His view was influence by his Christianity as he argued historical events are shaped by human sin and divine providence
Presentism
Contemporary ideas and perspective on interpretations on the past but this can include linking modern event to historical ones
Historicism
Historical context is important to consider when looking at an event to recognise evolution
Cannadine
All history is the history of conflict such as class, gender or religion
Weberians
Societies evolve due to emotional though being replaced by reason and efficiency
