Immediately report all safety deficiencies to a supervisor.

A supervisor is ultimately responsible for the safety of those assigned to them.
How often should apparatus, equipment, and protective clothing be inspected and maintained in a safe sanitary and reliable condition?
Apparatus, equipment, and protective clothing shall be inspected daily.
When should apparatus, equipment, and protective clothing found damaged or defective rendering it unsafe to operate be removed from service?
Unsafe or defective apparatus, equipment, and protective clothing found to be unsafe should be removed from service immediately.
What type of protective footwear shall be worn at all times which includes while riding on apparatus and other vehicles?
Black hard toed shoes or steel toed boots.
When shall SCBA’s be worn?
SCBA shall be worn with engaged in any operation were employees may be exposed to immediately dangerous to life or health or oxygen deprived atmospheres.
When may medical service transport providers remove their safety belt while the vehicle is an operation?
Only if urgent patient care operations are required.
With the exception of EMS personnel, when should full turnout gear be donned in response to emergency incidents?
Full turnout gear shall be done before a vehicle is placed in motion in response to emergency incidents.
Personal safety takes precedence over dawning the SCBA, which may be donned after arrival to the scene if it cannot be done while wearing a seatbelt.
What emergency procedures should take place whenever a driver or operator is out of the driver seat?
The parking or emergency brake shall be used and two wheel chocks shall be placed on all heavy apparatus.
What personal protective equipment should be worn when working around moving vehicles?
At a minimum, helmet, work gloves, protection and steel toed footwear shall be worn as well as PPE, vest or coat for working near moving traffic.
