Persistent pattern of disregard and violation of others’ rights since 15

Borderline PD
Pervasive pattern of instability of relationships, self-image, impulsivity
Histrionic PD
Excessive emotionality and attention-seeking
Narcissistic PD
Patterns of grandiosity and need for admiration
Paranoid PD
Pervasive distrust/suspicion of others, motives are seen as malevolent
Schizoid vs Schizotypal
Schizoid: does not desire close relationships. Watchword “aloof”
Schizotypal: wants relationships but cause acute discomfort
Defining Characteristics of PDs
- Egosyntonic (in sync with sense of self vs dystonic)
- Enduring maladaptive/inflexible behavioral traits
- impairment in social relationships/functioning in different types of environments
Avoidant PD
- Social inhibition,
- Feelings of inadequacy,
- Hypersensitivity to negative evaluation
Dependent PD
Pervasive/excessive need to be taken care of leads to submissive/clingy behavior. MOST CULTURALLY DEPENDENT DIAGNOSIS
Obsessive-compulsive PD
Preoccupation w orderliness, perfectionism, mental and interpersonal control. Not flexible or efficient
