Describe cluster A, B and C personality disorders (DSM IV)
Cluster A - paranoid, suspicious, schizoid, schizotypal (odd/eccentric)
Cluster B - Emotional, impulsive (dramatic/erratic/emotional). Includes the following PDs: Histrionic/borderline/narcissistic/antisocial
Cluster C - Anxious, anankastic, avoidant, dependent, OCD
Which three P’s distinguish personality disorder from personality traits?
Pervasive - occurs in most areas of life
Persistent - evident in adolescence and continues through to adulthood
Pathological - causes distress to self or others; impairs function
The ICD-10 criteria for a personality disorder can be remembered by the mnemonic “REPORT”. What does this stand for?
