what is temperament ?
a genetic component of personality
what is a longitudinal study ?
it’s a study carried out to show how behaviour changes over time
what’s the difference between monozygotic twins and dizygotic twins ?
monozygotic twins are developed from one fertilised egg , however dizygotic twins are developed from two separately fertilised eggs.
what’s an extroversion ?
it’s a personality type that describes people who look to the outside world for entertainment
what’s an introversion ?
a personality type that describes people who are content with their own company.
what’s neuroticism ?
a personality type that describes people who are highly emotional and show a quick , intense reaction to fear.
what are personality scales ?
they’re ways of measuring personality using yes / no questions
what is psychoticism ?
a third dimension identified by eysenck. people who score high on this dimension are hostile , aggressive , insensitive and cruel.
what is antisocial personality disorder ? (APD)
a condition in which the individual does not use socially acceptable behaviours or consider the rights of others.
what’s the amygdala ?
the part of the brain involved in emotion
what’s the grey matter ? (cerebral cortex)
the outer layer of the brain
what is the prefrontal cortex ?
the very front of the brain. it is involved in social and moral behaviour and controls aggression.
what are socioeconomic factors ?
social and financial issues that can affect an individual
