personal statement Flashcards
how did the local ladies teach you these stitches
my learning isnt refined to one particular technique, so i really enjoy using mnay differnet approaches to learning. this was no exception for the craft club. so, intially when i was being introduced to a stitch they would first show me and then watch as i mirror their technique. then i would go home and continue practising what they showed me. i catch on very fast though, which is a good thing, so in the times when i wasnt at the club but wanted to know more i would watch videos on youtube, or just read patterns. i learned to read patterns on my own which was really fun. and then i started to write my own patterns and i think i gifted a lot of my prototypes to my brother, who now has a lot of different anime characters he asked me to attempt.
example of personable/ connection with people / rapport
old manny in the coop. knew his past life, his pets, his dental history after talking for half an hour.
can you give an example from your shadowing that stuck with you
one of the patients didnt speak english and originally had her partner translate but we soon caught on that she spoke arabic, and the dental nurse spoke this fluently, which made the chances of things being lost in translation much slimmer and also let the patient feel more comfortable and safe. this highlighted the importance of the different roles in a dental practice and why teamwork was so essential because the nurse was able to find out the problems and communicate those to the dentist as well.
