Q

Justify your choice of observational sampling technique.

A

Made it easier to observe behaviour, as if someone was on their phone continuously, this would make event sampling difficult.

Q

What were your procedures in this investigation?

A
  1. Draw a table to note down a tally of communication vs scrolling for those alone and in groups.
  2. Walk around social areas in college and find those that were alone (stood or sat by themselves) or in a group (stood or sat with one or more people). Stand 2 metres away from them.
  3. Observe each participant for 3 minutes. Look at participants every 60 seconds and tally whether they are scrolling or communicating on their phone.
  4. Once 3 minutes of observation time is up, move on and find different participants to observe. Repeat for 20 participants.
