What are the practices that food handlers should follow?
A
- Wash hands with soap and water
- Wear clean attire
- Keep nails short and clean
- Keep hair neat and tidy (wear hairnet)
- Cover open cuts and lesions on hands

What are the steps to washing hands?
A
- Wet hands with clean running water and apply soap
- Rub hands for at least 20 seconds (8 steps hand washing)
- Rinse hands with running water and dry with clean paper towel

When do you wash your hands?
A
- Before work
- Before handling cooked/ready-to-eat food
- After handling raw food
- After handling waste
- After cleaning duties
- After using toilet
- After blowing nose, sneezing or coughing

- Touch parts of the body
- Smoke
- Taste food with fingers or used cutlery
- Wipe hands on dirty cloth
- Sneeze or cough over food
- Wear accessories/jewellery
- Use breath to open any bag or wrapper

What should you do when you feel unwell?
A
When you are sick (diarrhoea and/or vomiting), you should;
- Report your condition to your supervisor
- Refrain from handling food
- See a doctor promptly
- Not return to work until you have no symptoms for 48 hours
