self-awareness, freedom, capacity to welcome uncertainty in their lives, inner-directedness, absence of dichotomies (e.g. work/play, love/hate)

- Provide a climate for the client to self actualize
- Have to come face-to-face with one’s ideal self that was created through socialization
- Signs that client is becoming self-actualized: an openness to experience, trust in themselves, an internal source of evaluation, a willingness to continue growing.
