Acropolis-
an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon.
Agora-
lies beneath the northern slope of the Acropolis.the primary meeting ground for Athenians, where members of democracy congregated affairs of the state, where business was conducted, a place to hang out, and watch performers and listen to famous philosophers.
Democracy-
a form of government in which the people have the authority to deliberate and decide legislation, or to choose governing officials to do so
Oligarchy-
when two kings rule together, rule of two sparta uses this government.a form of power structure in which power rests with a small number of people.

Zoroastrianism-
one of the world’s oldest monotheistic religions, having originated in ancient Persia. It contains both monotheistic and dualistic elements, and many scholars believe Zoroastrianism influenced the belief systems of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

the moral or spiritual belief that two fundamental concepts exist.

Herodotus-
an ancient Greek writer, geographer and historian born in the Greek city of Halicarnassus, part of the Persian Empire. He is known for having written the Histories – a detailed account of the Greco-Persian Wars. Herodotus was the first writer to do systematic investigation of historical events.
Battle of Marathon (490 BC)-
took place in 490 BC during the first Persian invasion of Greece. It was fought between the citizens of Athens, aided by Plataea, and a Persian force commanded by Datis and Artaphernes. The battle was the culmination of the first attempt by Persia, under King Darius I, to subjugate Greece

- He was a non-aristocratic politicians which was a new concept at the time
- Came up with using boats for warfare
