What do palpable lymph nodes mean in infants and children?

A

Common but should be mobile and non tender.

If the nodes are enlarged, warm, and tender, look for source of infection.

Why is bilateral edema common in pregnant women?

A

It is common in the lower legs, particularly at the end of the day during the final months of pregnancy because the growing uterus obstructs flow of blood and lymph.

What is lymphedema?

A

Chronic, progressive, accumulation of protein rich fluid in the interstitial spaces, causing swelling. It frequently follows breast cancer surgery or treatment, resulting from axillary lymph node removal, radiation therapy, fibrosis, or inflammation.
