PVD
A
narrowing of the blood vessels which supply the outer limits of the body

Symptoms of PVD
A
- Elevation pallor - foot turns pale when raised
- Dependant rubor - foot turns red when lowered
- Claudication of legs - decrease in blood flow to the muscle tissue causes ischaemia and adenosine affects nerves -> pain

Severity of symptoms
A
- Rest pain - continuous pain even when foot is not elevated
- Gangrene - death of tissue due to necrosis
- Leg claudication

Venous ulcer
A
- DVT, thrombophilia, varicose vein
- severe pain esp. Diabetic neuropathy
- Malleous, heel, metatarsal head
- Pink
- Full of veins
- Swelling

Arterial ulcer
A
- Males >60 years
- Hyperlipidemia, smoking
- Slight pain
- Medial or lateral foot
- Green or black
- Empty veins
