Q

Hyaline arterioslcerosis

A
  1. high bp causes proteins in blood to enter blood vessel wall
  2. walls become lined with proteins
  3. walls are stiffer and thicker
  4. Narrow lumen
  5. Blood flow is reduced to organ

Q

Hyperplastic arteriosclerosis

A
  1. Hardening of blood vessels due to high bp
  2. blood vessels compensate by adding more layers of smooth muscle

Q

Monckberg medial sclerosis

A
  1. Calcium deposits are found in muscular layer
  2. Hardening of blood vessel
  3. Diameter is not affected
  4. Blood outflow is not affected - mainly asymptomatic

Q

Clinical presentation of ateriosclerosis

A
  1. Kidneys
    • Arterionephrosclerosis -> Chronic renal failure
    • lack of blood supply to glomerulus causes it to scar
  2. Chest pain and angina
  3. Leg pain
  4. Stroke like symptoms
