what are the underlying pathophysiologiogy of peripehral neuropathies?
- Axonal - most common
- seen in systemic, metabolic, toxic, and nutritional disorders
- Long large diameter fibres
- eg CMT1
- Demyelinating
- eg GBS, CMTooth2
How do we ivx P Neuropathies?
Nerve conduction studies - axonal or demyelinating
EMG - can differentiate if acute or chronic
Bloods; metabolic causes
Urine tests - toxins and poisons
Genetic test eg in CMT
