Tooth loss is inversely proportional to PMT

What should be the frequency of PMT?
For most pts with gingivitis but no attachment loss = semiannual
For pts with a hx of periodontitis = less than 6 month, most commonly 3 months
What is the compliance with PMT?
16% comply with PMT
49% comply erratically with PMT
34% never reported for PMT
What retreatment should be done in areas with poor plaque control?
No surgical treatment
What retreatment should be done in a single site of breakdown?
Nonsurgical treatment
What retreatment should be done with continued inflammation?
Surgical treatment
What retreatment should be done with attachment loss?
SRP + antibiotics or surgery
What retreatment should be done with increasing mobility?
Occlusal adjustment
