What is periodisation?

A

Periodisation is the division of a training cycle into smaller more manageable sectors, with the goal of bringing all aspects of a performance to a peak at the most important competition or maintain peak performance throughout-out the competitive season.

What is a Macrocycle and how Long is it?

A

A Macro cycle is the largest cycle and a training plan is made up from not many of these which are usually 1-6months long and split up the year/training programme e.g. for football. Pre season, Competitive season, Recovery/post season.

What is a Mesocycle and how long are they?

A

A Mesocycle is usually around a month and will have multiple different segments e.g. weeks. Where specific goals will aimed to be achieved.

A Microcycle is usually around a week and contains individual days where training plans are contained.
