Q

Why can Hydrogen be placed in Group 1 (Alkali Metals) and group 7 (Halogens)

A

Hydrogen can be placed in Group 1 because it forms positive ions like Alkali Metals and it can also be placed in Group 7 because it forms negative ions like Halogens do. However it should be placed in Group 1 as it has one valence electron
