Manifest Destiny

A

the 19th-century belief of white Americans where they are ordained to settle all of North America even if the land is already claimed. President: James K. Folk
One of their goals was to expand white American settlement all through out the United States, to the border where Canada reaches the United States
* Their second goal was to claim the territory already claimed by Native Americans. Claiming their territory also meant having to get rid of the Native Americans living in the territory usually by relocating them to unlivable areas.
