What are the boundaries of the deep UG space?
The perineal membrane (deep fascia) inferiorly and the pelvic diaphragm superiorly.
What are the boundaries of the superficial UG space?
The perineal membrane superiorly and Colle’s fascia (superficial membranous) inferiorly.
What are the muscles of the deep urogenital space?
The deep transverse pectineus and the external urethral sphincter.
What are the muscles of the superficial urogenital space?
The superficial transverse pectineus, Bulbospongiosus, and Ischiocavernosus.
What is the most superficial (fatty) layer of fascia in the anterior abdomen?
The Camper’s (fatty) fascia.
What is the fatty superficial fascia in the female urogentital triangle?
Forms the fatty tissue of the labia majora and mons pubis.
What is the fatty superficial fascia in the male urogenital triangle?
It is replaced with the smooth portion muscle of Dartos tunic.
What is the fatty superficial fascia in the anal triangle?
The ischioanal fat pad (note that this is the only fascia in the anal triangle).
What is the membranous superficial fascia in the anterior abdomen?
Scarpa’s fascia.
What does Scarpa’s fascia form in the female UG triangle?
Colle’s fascia.
What does Scarpa’s fascia form in the make UG triangle?
Colle’s fascia and the membranous layer of Dartos fascia.
What is the deep fascia of the female UG triangle?
The perineal membrane.
What is the deep fascia of the male UG triangle?
The perineal membrane and Buck’s fascia of the penis.
What is also contained in the male UG space besides the muscles?
The bulbourethral (Cowper’s) glands.
What is the perineal body?
A pyramidal fibromuscular mass in the middle line of the perineum at the junction between the urogenital triangle and the anal triangle.
