Peri-Arrest Rhythms: Bradycardia Flashcards
1
Q
what does the management of bradycardia depend on?
A
- presence of ‘adverse signs’
- identifying the potential risk of asystole
2
Q
what are the ‘adverse signs’?
A
- shock = hypotension, pallor, sweating, cold…
- syncope
- myocardial ischaemia
- heart failure
3
Q
what is the 1st line in a haemodynamically unstable person with bradycardia?
A
atropine 500mg IV
4
Q
sinus bradycardia + ‘adverse signs’
how do you manage a patient who has not responded to atropine?
A
- atropine (max 3mg)
- transcutaneous pacing
- isoprenaline/adrenaline infusion
5
Q
what are the risk factors for asystole with bradycardia?
A
- complete heart block with broad complex QRS
- recent asystole
- mobitz type II AV block
- ventricular pause >3 seconds
