What is Perform Quality Assurance?
The process of auditing the quality requirements and the results from quality control measurements to ensure that appropriate quality standards and operational definitions are used. Facilitates the improvement of quality processes.
Who is Philip Crosby?
Believed in conformance to requirements and with zero defects.
Who is Joseph Duran?
Define quality as “fitness for use”; promoted conformance and quality by design.
Who is Edward Demming?
Developed 14 points of Total Quality Management (TQM); said quality is a management problem 85% of the time.
What is Plan Do Check Act?
Constant continuing improvement.
Who is Kaizen?
Japanese word for “continuous improvement”; a type of Plan Do Check Act.
What is Six Sigma?
Strives to reduce defects of no more than 3.4 defects per million.
What is Precision?
The value of repeated measurements are clustered and have little scatter.
What is Accuracy?
The measure value is very close to the true value.
What are the 2 types of Variances?
Special Cause and Common Cause
What is Special Cause (Assignable Cause)?
Not inherent in the system, not predictable, and is intermittent; includes non-random data points or points outside the control limits.
What is Common Cause (Random Cause)?
Inherent in the system and predictable; normal or not unusual; includes random patterns within the control limits.
What are the inputs to Perform Quality Assurance?

What is Quality Control Measurements?
The results of quality control activities in the formats specified during quality planning. Determines if we are meeting quality standards.
What is Work Performance Information?
Performance data collected from various controlling processes, analyzed in context and integrated based on relationships across areas.
