He thinks it is עלי calling for help (עלי was blind). He runs to help him, but עלי says he didn’t call
him.

This then happens a second and third time.
What did Eli realise after the third time Shmuel came to him?
By the third time, עלי realizes that שמואל is running
toward the direction of the Kodesh Hakodashim. If someone was calling, עלי should have heard
it too, since he was closer. Since he didn’t, it showed that it was ‘ה speaking, and He only
wanted שמואל to hear.
What did עלי tell שמואל to do?
Eli instructs שמואל to go back to bed. If he hears the voice again, he should say: Speak ‘ה ,for
your servant is listening.
Why did ‘ה speak to שמואל in this way, using עלי‘s voice?
It was שמואל‘s first nevuah. In order not to scare him, He spoke to שמואל using a familiar
voice.
What did ‘ה tell שמואל in his first prophecy?
That He is going to do something that will make all of Bnei Yisroel’s ears ring. [He’s referring to
the destruction of the Mishkan, and the capture of the Aron.]
Why would Eli’s family never be forgiven with korbanot?
Since they sinned with
korbanos, and ein kateigor na’aseh saneigor.
How could Eli’s descendants achieve forgiveness?
Chazal say that they could be
forgiven through teshuvah, and through Torah, tefillah, and gemillus chasadim.
What was עלי reaction to the nevua?
Eli accepts it, and just says that ‘ה will do what is best for us.
