What is perception?
An active process, which requires and memory and thought to organise
and interpret something.
What are bottom-up processes?
Sensory driven processes that organise incoming information
What are top-down processes?
Knowledge, experience and expectation driven process that determines perception in ambiguous settings
What does depth perception cause?
Binocular disparity, monocular cues
What is gestalt or whole perception?
The basic organisational tendencies in perception by seeking
meaningful groupings. e.g proximity, similarity, continuity, closure
What is the relationship between perception and attention?
Selective attention - screening information
Selective listening
Inattentional blindness
