King George 2 gave land in the new land to keep the Spanish and the French away from South Carolina. He wanted to start a colony for the poor and the debtors, so they wouldn’t have to go to prison.
Wampanoag
During the time of the pilgrims, Massoit was leader of the Wampanoag people. Later, Metacomet, aka King Philip led the people into King Philip war. The Native American Wampanoag tried to keep their land but they lost and many died. Some were enslaved or forced to leave. So soon there were very few in New England.

Governor of Plymouth Colony who made an agreement to live in peace with Massasoit.

Made up from settlers who made their living on small farms or large plantations where slaves did most of the work. Some cash crops were tobacco, indigo, and rice.

Held meetings in home where men and women talked about religion. She was banished from Massachusetts and went to Rhode Island.
Charleston
This city was an important trading center in South Carolina.
