Current GG is Sir Peter Cosgrove.Represents the queen as she lives in Britain.His powers are set out in the constitution. He has many roles such as approving bills, meeting foreign visitors, awards people, attends ceremonies.

Carries black rod when senate is in practice. Some of his jobs are:
to escort the president of the senate into and out of the chamber
Delivers messages to the house of reps.

He is from the liberal part
Some of his roles are: advising the Governor General, represents Australia overseas and chooses members of government to become ministers. He is the most powerful person in Australian government.
